The Chupinaya, which is a yearly race held at the start of Lake Chapala’s rainy season, usually at the end of July, is the areas most anticipated race. Runners from all over Mexico come to participate in this challenging race. It starts at the Ajijic Plaza and there are several routes marked by the organizers going up hill to the Chupinaya mountain, the shortest being 6.5Km and the longest is 13.8KM.
